Pieces of Light

About the book

Detective Dinah Harris hunts down a serial bomber targeting religious icons and buildings. The bomber is on a mission to rid the city of religion and establish a 'new world order'. Can someone so intent on ridding the world of God experience redemption? What lies behind his hatred of God? Will his darkened soul search for pieces of light?

The first two books of the series, Deadly Disclosures and The Shadowed Mind reveal the amazing grace of God while showcasing a world losing sight of Him. In Pieces of Light, Cave’s continues her compelling storylines using believable characters and realistic situations to:

  • Identify the importance of living under the authority of the Bible
  • Deliver a Biblical worldview perspective to current events
  • Illustrate the power of Jesus’s sacrifice and desire to redeem every life
  • Provide believers a resource easy to share with skeptics

Recently, Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis described The Shadowed Mind (book two) as "another nail-biting mystery with an incredibly powerful message about God’s authoritative Word."

Julie Cave is a Christian Australian author determined to share the authority of the Bible and love of God. By writing fiction, she teaches both the Christian and skeptic the power of God's word and the saving love of Christ.

My Thoughts

I finally was able to complete my reading on Pieces of Light recently.  The book is third in the Dinah Harris series and complete the story line started in Deadly Disclosures and The Shadowed Mind

The book ties perfectly with the two first book and even though the story continues with Dinah Harris, there is a new mystery to solve…   This time a bomber is attacking churches.    Will Dinah and her partners will be able to solve the problem?

While you read this book, you will have multiple characters in which you will discover more about while you go through the story.  Eventually, all comes together.

For a new believer, Dinah Harris is quite bold and she is able to debate her faith quite easily with people around her.   I guess she got well surrounded when she became Christians though I find it difficult to visualize a new believer being so knowledgeable in such a short time period.     Her arguments at the end of the book are thought provoking but unless she was coached extensively (which we don’t see in the story line of the three books) she more than likely shouldn’t be able to argument like this.

Though this specific observation is bugging me a bit, I find the story very interesting.   We can meet crazy people anytime and anywhere.   And seeing how someone just decided to attack churches based on a law suit is difficult to swallow but it could happen.   I find it funny that this particular book is mentioning the building of a full scale Noah’s Ark and the reactions of some groups about this.   I remember reading opposition when there was the announcement of the building of Noah’s Ark a year or two ago.

If you have an avid reader who loves to read mysteries, I would suggest to consider the Dinah Harris series as a Christmas gift.   The books are a delight to read and will keep you turning the pages until you arrive at the end of the story.  Or is it the end?   I am hoping to read more about Dinah and Aaron…   Maybe in a next mystery series?
