My Thoughts

Everyone should read this book.   It is an eye opener and a blessing at the same time.   Have a New You by Friday is guide you through a some healthy steps to change your habits that have been bothering you.

The book is divided in five days (not counting the introduction) and could easily be read within a week.   Sit down, grab the book, read a chapter a day and then reflect on what you have read.    Believe me when I say that you should expect some changes in your way of thinking by the end of the week. I didn’t know what to expect when I started this book but as I was reading it, I felt compelled to grab a pen and start writing thoughts throughout the book.     While I was reading some of the description for the various dog representation, my husband disagreed with what I thought I was…. apparently he thinks I am a Yorkie while I think I am a Standard Poodle.   LOL  We had a great discussion about it while we were driving to our campsite that day.    Maybe I am a mix of both…

The second day of my reading I learned about birth order.   I had heard of it but never read anything about it.   It was interesting to read and open my understanding on my own kids…  I have four of them – 3 boys and 1 girl.  My girl is the last one but at the same time she is the first girl.    Needless to say that I am starting to understand my boys more and see how being an only child has affected me.

The third day is about childhood memories.   I first thought that it would be a problem because somehow I don’t have much memories from my childhood.   I once mentioned my husband that it was bothering me.   But Dr. Leman cover the subject of “But I Don’t Have Any Memories” quite well and this was simply fantastic for me.  However, he mentions to talk to your siblings and since I don’t have any this option is not available to me.   Oh well….

The fourth day is about your love language.   Ah!   Been there done that.  I already know my love language and mu husband as we have read the Love Language book a few times.   But for someone who has not been introduced to the concept of love language, this chapter will be an eye opener.

Finally day five concludes with taking the information you have accumulated from day one and begin the transformation process in you.   You start a makeover process by look back at what you have learned about yourself, take baby steps in applying what needs to be changed, improve your self-talk (i.e. stop putting yourself down), and from there change.   The author also makes sure that you should not be discourage if you fail.    It won’t happen in 24 hours.  It can take time.

Like I said at the beginning of this review, everyone should go through this book.  Not only will you realize that your past has affected you more than you would think but it will give you guidance on how to proceed to change yourself.

Have a New You by Friday is available at your favourite bookstore, even amazon.ca.
