About the book

With a biome-by-biome structure that mirrors Mother Nature’s own design, Earth Matters is a celebration of our fragile Earth, a warning to protect it, and an inspiring source book full of ideas for making a positive change.

My Thoughts

If you have a child interesting in ecology – the plants and animals sharing the planet with us, you need to get this book.

This book is a good introduction on how we can take care of our planet which support so many life forms around the world… After all it takes one person to make a difference.  If  you start doing your share of taking care of your neighbourhood, others will follow.  Pollution is doing damages to our environment and every day many species of animals are struggling to survive.

Learning more about the various environments and its inhabitants can make a difference in how people reacts.   Earth matters will do just that.   It will transport you around the world in the different habitats, show you the animals living there, explain the issues for the habitat,  present the various ecosystems,  and identify for you what can be done to help this area.

The book is packed with beautiful pictures taken all around the world, numerous information about the various ecosystems and the habitats found all around the world as well as interesting suggestions on how to get involved in helping to protect our planet.

While reading information in the book, I discovered that back in 1905 no one lived in the area where Las Vegas is located.   in 2005, more than 1,796,380 people lived there.   The information about the possible problem of water in the city is very interesting.   Las Vegas apparently uses 307 gallons of water per person per day.  That’s  1, 165 liters…   If you consider the pools, fountains, water-based shows as well as personal used, water will become an expensive resources for the city in the desert.

The book is divided in various sections: introduction on various terminology and life on earth, polar regions, temperate forests, deserts, grasslands, tropical forests, mountains freshwater, oceans, and helping the earth.

If you want to learn more how you can help protect the planet and how we are damaging it, Earth matters will give you a bird eye view of the ecology around the world.

Earth Matters is available everywhere even at amazon.ca.
